Special Features
Options Menu
- Auto Play - When
enabled, cards will automatically move to foundation piles as they
become available.
Note: In some games, like Klondike, it is
important to not let one foundation get too far ahead of the others
(or the Tableau will get stuck). Auto Play plays conservatively in
these cases. In other games, like Seahaven, tableau piles are
built by suit only, so it doesn't matter if foundations get ahead. In
these cases Auto Play will move whatever it can.
- Kings Only - Some games,
like Klondike, and Fan, only allow empty Tableau piles to be started
with a King. This option can be used to disable that restriction.
- "Hilight Piles" - When cards are being
moved, legal plays will hilight as the card moves over the piles.
- "Show Pile Types" - Very useful for learning
new games. Labels each pile with its function in the current game.
- "Show Next Card" - Shows the card(s) that may be
built on each pile. Again, very useful for learning new variations.
- "Show Stock Count" - Will add a counter to the
stock, showing how many cards remain in the pile.
- "Game Rules..." - Show the rules for the current
game, and more importantly, how to win!
- "Statistics..." - Shows you more detailed game
specific statistics, including number of games played, and average
score.
- "All Statistics..." - Opens a
window detailing your winning percentage for all games.
- "Show me the Aces" - Finds any Aces that are
face down in the Tableau, and turns them face up. In games, like
Osmosis, where Aces don't necessarily start foundations, finds the
value that you do need.
- "Crooked Cards" - If you don't enjoy the
jumbled arrangement of cards in piles, you can disable this feature
to get rigid straight piles.
- "Sticky Mouse" - If you find click and drag
awkward (as if you were using a laptop, for example), you can
enable this option. Clicking a card once will stick it to the
mouse, you can then release the button. A second click will drop
the card where it is.
- Game Button Panel - This panel can be used to
provide quick access to your favourite games. Open the panel, and use
the Add/Remove Game button to add or remove the current game to the
list. Once in the list, you can choose a game by just clicking its
button, saving constant trips to the game menus.
Extras
The "Extras" menu contains items that can be used to customize the
appearance of Allgood Solitaire. Different deck designs can be
used to customize the look of the cards, and you can bring your own
images in to use as a background for the game. All of these can be
found in the Extras folder (next to Allgood Solitaire), and putting
additional images and deck files into this folder will make them
available inside the game, too. Several "deck files" are already
included with the game, but you can also download more from this
growing online archive. To
add your own pictures to the game, merely drag copies (or aliases) of
them into the "Extras" folder, too. Use the "Extras" menu to activate
them:
- Decks - Play with different styled decks of cards.
- Background - Apply any image you want to the background of the
game.
Shortcuts
For the Power Solitaire player, several shortcuts are available:
- 1-9,T,J,Q,K hitting any of these keys, will show
the locations of cards of that value in the layout (exposing them when
necessary)
- Return / Space Deals a card, or cards from the
stock - same as clicking it.
- Shift-Click on a pile will show all the cards in that
pile (even those currently face down) in a seperate window. This
window is "live", and will respond to changes in a piles contents.
- Double Click on a card (or use
Control-Click) on a card will try to move
that card to a foundation (or waste in Golf/Idiot's Delight), or to
elsewhere in the Tableau.
- Option-Double Click (or
Option-Control Click)on a card, and that card will
go to a foundation, as well as any other cards that are available,
shotgun style. It's great for finishing up games when you have Auto
Play disabled.
- Caps Lock. If you play with Caps Lock on, when
you click a card or group of cards, the game will show you the various
places you may play it to.
